The Antler Motel

We had a room booked and told them we would need to do a later check in. (Around 11:00 pm) When we arrived, everything was dark. Not a soul in sight. We tried calling the number, but no one answered. The sign even says there is an "after hours doorbell", which was no where to be found. We left and, thankfully, Best Western had a room for us. While checking in, we mentioned that we had a room booked elsewhere and there was no one to check us in. Without us telling them, they immediately knew it was Antler Motel. Apparently this happens all the time. Definitely would not recommend booking with them.

The room was missing its smoke detector and there was no lock on the emergency exit door, so anybody could have entered the hotel. We stayed three nights and did request housekeeping everyday. We never got it. On the plus side, it's a nice location, walking distance to downtown and a few restaurants. The room had plenty of space and it was quiet.

Office was closed all day Saturday and only the cleaning lady (who was actually nice and was concerned about our experience) was there on Sunday. Because of g the his no one was answering the phones until about 4:30 Saturday. That conversation was shockingly rude and I will never be back to this establishment. I asked why the dirty sheets were not changed and was told they don’t do that since they were not dirty if I hadn’t been in use for a week. Then the woman, who never bothered to identify herself hung up on me. There was no deadbolt, peep hole and the security slide on the door didn’t work. The toilet had been used but not flushed when we got there and would not flush Sunday but we couldn’t do anything but leave a message. The floors were still wet from being shampooed , which created a strong chemical smell when we went in, but they were very clean looking. No Kleenex box and no way to get extra towels, since the phone went straight to the answering machine once she cut the call. We were placed in a second story room across the street. The door closure on the outside door is so tight that it takes a grown adult with both hands to open it. That’s after walking up stairs with railings on one side only, no overhead light bulbs, hardware is there, and what looked like a non-active camera. There is a bbq grill on the landing I’m front of the door. Honestly the gentleman who checked us in and the cleaning lady who took our key, since there was no one to check us out, were the bright spots of the visit. The other bright spot was some lovely views of the town and Wyoming sky.

Yuck. The bathroom hasn't been cleaned in several days, including a used and un-flushed toilet. Dirty sink, hairs in shower, carpet needs cleaning, bathroom door didn't open or close without serious muscle. The rest of the hotel was old but serviceable, but for $90 a stay I expect the bathroom to be clean. Also, our room had an unlocked door that opened to the hot water heater tank for the whole wing of the hotel. Bathwater was a rusty color. Washcloth (black, as were the towels) exuded black dye when squeezed. Extremely rude service and bizarre standards of cleanliness. Very unsuitable for families with small kids. Don't stay here unless you bring your own cleaning supplies.

Awful. There was a man discovered overdosing on the sidewalk when we arrived. The WiFi was non existent. There are itinerant workers living there with boots outside there door, grilling in wind storms, leaving tanks if asinine for their cars outside. There were 3 elderly couples who left yelling at the owner for men up all night drinking and playing loud music in their cars. The town itself is dead with 70 percent of old buildings boarded up for decades.

I seriously don’t know why this place comes highly recommended on google; I really hope that somebody sees this before they make the decision to book here. There are grills all around the outside of the building (it is my impression that there are people living here) and the door to get up to the room we were in was extremely hard to open. There was garbage all over the halls (beer cans, mostly), and people were smoking in the stairwell. Every morning at around 5:30 there came a round of whistling and people would even try opening our door. For that matter, if safety is a concern, beware. They don’t have a good locking system on the doors and with the people that hang around the place that really was a concern for me. As far as the room itself goes, it was fine, but there’s no blanket. There’s just a sheet and a decorative top sheet. If you’re a man traveling alone or with buddies this might work for you; I definitely wouldn’t recommend it to anyone else.

Old building with old carpet, very unattractive location. Clean bedding and towels. Beds were comfortable. Terrible internet TV connection for their Roku TV and terrible internet connection. Small refrig, small microwave and in room coffee worked perfectly. Minimal daily maid service and floor did not get vacuumed well. Front desk staff essentially non-existent. At check in was charged for the entire reservation and when we left one day early, the front desk office was locked and no one was available to assist us. Called and spoke with 2 people the day we left and the next day and was informed that a manage would call back. NO return calls.

Honestly LOVED this place. They work so hard to keep this place clean and it pays off. We stayed here Friday and Saturday night and my husband and I LOVED it. Black out curtains, clean towels, comfy pillows, clean room, GREAT AC and fan…the list goes on! Also, it’s only a minute walk to the Maverick which is so helpful!! The young gentlemen who checked us in was SO awesome and I could always get someone to answer the phone when I was calling to book the room!! Thanks Antler Motel! We will for sure stay here next year!!
