De Vere House

We attended a Headless Horseman Ghost Walk here. It was incredibly interesting and informative taking in all the local houses that had a ghost story, curse or myth attached. If you are a Harry Potter fan, you'll hear all about Godric's Hollow aka De Vere House. Free of charge and a great evening out. Lots of nice local pubs to have a meal or drink beforehand.

Beautiful building/house in the pitoresk medieval village of Lavenham. It seems to be used as film location in one of the Harry Potter movies. We didn't stay in this hotel.

Harry Potter meets John Constable… Lavenham now appeals to both old and young. Come early or out of season.

This is a superb place to stay. The ambience and history of the building give it a magical atmosphere.|Jane is a super host, from the moment that you arrive. The bedrooms are four poster, very clean, and very large. The place oozes history. Breakfasts are of a very high quality and filling (we did not bother with lunch after eating breakfast).|Tony is very knowledgable about the history of the house, the history of Lavenham, the ghost stories around Lavenham, and a great story teller.|To cap it all off, is has Harry Potter connections as well. The perfect rounded place. if I am ever in Suffolk again, this would be the preferred place that I would look to stay.

An amazing Medieval House in quirky Lavenham. Our beautiful room had a four poster bed which fitted in with the exposed beams and lovely wall hangings. The village centre is two minutes walk away and there are several tea rooms including a National Trust one. There is a trail around the village, which includes De Vere House itself as Harry Potter's birthplace, and longer walks if you are feeling more energetic. Would highly recommend.

Excellent is not enough to describe this place. We rented it for a week and it was perfection. Jane (the owner) was wonderfully charming and friendly. The house had everything we needed and there were bread, eggs, honey, milk, cider and delicious orange juice when we arrived. Plenty of logs for the fire and good central heating. The beds were inviting and the rooms cosy and warm. There is also parking at the back of the house, and excellent internet connection.||||We always rent a villa or a cottage when on holidays in the UK and abroad but De Vere House is second to none. It is a shame that we live so far otherwise we would come and stay here more often.

What a lovely house to stay in. I could not have been more relaxed. Jane is so accommodating and I felt so at home. The house is a fantastic base for exploring Lavenham and going for long walks further afield. I would highly recommend this place to stay. It's a lovely place to stay.
