Carolina Winds

This place is amazing for the price. We rented through Airbnb and had a great experience. Parking is free and easy. The pool and hot tub at the main building were well taken care of. There is another hot tub and a lazy river at the other building and I assume those are well maintained too but I was not over there much. The gym is not great, but that did not matter much because there is an entire beach to walk on and a great big pool to swim in! Everyone was friendly and I felt safe the entire time. The elevators are fast and the main floor was clean. My only complaint is the open walkways in the hallways. If you have a fear of heights, you might want to book a lower floor!

Have stayed at Carolina Winds for 15 plus years. Rooms are always clean and nice. Some are more updated than others but all range from nice to very nice. During my stays anything that I needed addressed by maintenance or housekeeping was handled quickly and efficiently. Staff always very courteous. All my stays have been enjoyable relaxing and comfortable.

I've stayed at the Carolina Winds numerous times over the years, but I hadn't been to Myrtle Beach in a long while and wanted to come back "home" for a change. My husband is a die-hard fan of a different beach. I immediately looked to Carolina Winds as my destination of choice. It is still as nice as I remember. The staff is still friendly and helpful, and I'm pretty sure a couple of the same folks still work here from 12-ish years ago. I absolutely recommend calling them to book your room so that you can let them know what you like. Booking online takes out the human factor. Talking to an actual person has its advantages here. The building is starting to show a little age, but it's still very nice, clean, and maintained as well as a place that's stood in salt air for several decades can be. Our room had some recent updates and was clean and comfortable. The pools and hot tubs (indoor and outdoor) are clean and in good repair. The restaurant is open with friendly service and great French fries (among other things) when you need a snack. If there's a problem, let someone at the desk know, and they'll fix it. It's not a 5 star facility, but I wouldn't like it if it were. Carolina Winds is homey. It's normal. It's not overly fussy. There might be a tiny bit of sand on the floor in your room, but it's the beach! What do you expect? We got the broom out of the closet and got what we could up. In the peak season, it's definitely busy, bustling with people, and crowded. Although this is still a lower-key area of Myrtle in my opinion. It's nice if you like that. You'll be within easy walking distance of several stores, restaurants, and attractions like mini-golf. I will continue to choose the Carolina Winds as my preferred place to stay! We were not disappointed!

The rooms vary from disgusting to luxurious. The service was fine, it was off season, so staff was limited. The outside pool area is nice, pool has a 10' deep end. We were shown some rooms that we will try renting next year. The location is prime right on the ocean with plenty of eats and drinks in close proximity. Will probably go back again in September and hopefully some of the same people we met will be there. Lots of yinzers present.

Great location. Convenient to grocery stores and restaurants. Nice area of Myrtle Beach. Units are privately owned and rented through the resort therefore any units that are dated or in need of repairs, it’s up to the homeowner, not Carolina Winds, to make such repairs, replace furniture, etc. So basically you’re rolling the dice when you book. Staff is very friendly.

Where do I even begin. No reliable WiFi, no coffee or breakfast outside of the pots in the rooms and only an inconsistently open bar and grill, pool is warmed to the point you can cool off better by standing outside, because of rooms being independently owned every stay is a hit or miss if you will have quality furniture or technology, the pull out beds are actually impossible to sleep on without needing a visit to the chiropractor, the “fitness room” is three pieces of rusty equipment. I truly have so little positive to say about this hotel other than the size of the pool, the quality of the hot tubs, and the location.

Loved the location of this hotel. Tucked back away from all the noise and traffic. Front desk staff was very courteous and helpful. Clean entrance to hotel and throughout. The unit we stayed in (3 bedroom) was very nice. There was a couple little tiny things that could be updated but all in all in was a really nice stay for myself and family. Will be coming back again next year!

Two widows traveling alone and when I read the rave reviews we booked immediately. I had called ahead and was told someone would be available to assist us with our luggage. 🤔 That did not happen even though we checked in on weekday. The room 605 could use new mattresses. Our beds dipped in the middle. The bedside lamp cords would most likely fail a fire inspection. Very few outlets, which was an issue for medical equipment. Oh, all luggage racks are stored somewhere else in the building, not in the lobby! I sincerely hope we just picked a bad week. We will not be back.
