Lake Moc-A-Tek Campground

Extremely disappointed with this campground. The owner was rude and made us feel completely unwelcome from the moment we arrived. The property itself is rundown and poorly maintained, with broken amenities and a generally dilapidated feel. On top of that, the lake it sits next to smells terrible and adds to the overall unpleasant experience. Definitely would not recommend.

Our friends have a seasonal RV site and invited us to try this campground. We usually stay at the state parks. They are usually are smaller sites. Check in was quick and easy. Having two large tents, Our site was very large with lots of room. A small slope was perfect for rain the run away from our site. There is room to back our vehicle almost to our site which made it easy to unpack and pack up. Most tent sites have picnic tables and fire pits. Our dogs loves being able to roam around on a lead rope. Dump stations so we can empty our portable toilet. They also have hot showers and flushable toilets near tent site. Water nearby and power at every other site so we could power our small refrigerator. We would definitely stay here again!

My husband & I stayed here because it was the closest campground to Scranton Wilkes Barre Railriders that had openings. We actually left a day early because we were very disappointed with the campground. It is very rundown. We did not enjoy ourselves there. The pool wasnt inviting looked dirty. The landscaping is not kept up. The basketball court had weeds growing thru the floor so that was unusable. Mostly seasonal & screepy looking rusted old RVs all over. There are adandoned children’s playgrounds with dingy looking play sets. We had a difficult time finding our site when we arrived. We were not sure where it was but one of the kind seasonal campers led us to it. Our concrete patio was completely cracked & uneven. I tripped walking on it. The site was very sloped in the rear. The sewer was covered by a rock. The road leading around to our site was so muddy we almost didnt make it up there. And the electric hookup didnt have enough space to hookup our surge protector. Also the day we decided to leave we were approached by a gentlemen who works for Wayne County. He was following up on a complaint by someone who stayed at our site in the past that received a property tax bill. He asked us a few questions, took a picture & left. There is no security gate so anyone can drive in at any time. So i feel we made the right decision to leave a day early since this was not an enjoyable campground.we felt uneasy. I don’t remember seeing any workers besides 2 people who were hired as managers of this campground. They are overwhelmed. I didnt see any listed daily activities most campgrounds of this daily rate offers. When I emailed the campground her response was that they have activities and that it’s posted on the door. If you call a potluck night at the pavilion activities! My opinion for this rate stay somewhere else!|

Overall pleasant experience, you have a feeling of camping with a concierge service, staff is friendly and you always have someone to help at the office, since this is not a state park you may have a feeling of more freedom and security. There are few minor things i pointed out below most of campers wont see as a problem. You are on a private farm. We experienced some maintenance and construction activities on weekend, i was told this was a one time deal. Need to be more considerate. Some rental boat ore locks are broken but there are plenty that are not, just need to be fixed. One pick nick table is rotten and needs to be replaced. A few dead trees to be removed as they pose hazard and a liability if fall. No bench or shelves in bathroom. I like this place and will return, my review is simply to help owners to preserve and improve for us enjoy summer after summer.

This is a very family friendly camp ground. They have maintained it clean and nice. We rented a cabin and it was clean and comfortable with lake view. You can rent a boat for $12 and fish all day long. The lake has some great fish to catch. Overall a great experience and will return again!

Incredible hospitality from the first minute to the last! Amazing experiences for all to do in the campground. Great to see so much pride and involvement of the owners and their visions!

Very nice property. Owners Jeff and Dana are very helpful. The property is well maintained and right on the lake. The fishing is great on the lake. You can either fish from the lake or rent a boat. Either ways expect some good catch. Will definitely go again!

While the owners of this campground are extremely nice, this campground just is not for tent campers. The entire area for tent camping is slopped. Small flat areas are so covered with tree roots and rocks they are not usable. There are little or no flat enough areas to set up tents or other gear. We had to pitch tents next to the road in order to have any area that was flat. The "view" of the lake was not a view of a lake, just a view of lily pads. The sites are very narrow on long totally sloped to the "lake" that you can not swim in or use unless you rent their boats - though they did provide a "buffer" by not putting any other campers next to us. The walk from our site to the primitive bathroom was not long, but was treacherous with slippery hills and trees roots. Additional chargers "per person" were high and unnecessary. Only one tent site looked remotely flat enough to camp without having to level everything with rocks, wood blocks etc. but that site was right next to the office and did not provide much privacy. I don't think I would camp here again or recommend to anyone tent camping,
