We stumbled across this little village pub after spotting their sign while cycling the Rutland Water route, and wow—what a find! From the moment we walked in, the welcome was warm and genuine. The Sunday roast was absolutely spot on: succulent beef, perfectly cooked vegetables, and proper homely roast potatoes. A real treat after a long ride. Highly recommend to anyone passing through the area—you won’t be disappointed!

We were on holiday in Edith Weston and popped in Saturday and Sunday. The food was excellent, the portions generous and the staff were very friendly. The Wheatsheaf is very dog friendly. Plenty of parking. Walking distance to Rutland water. Nice clean pub.

This is my fourth times coming here. Sunday Roast is incredible, beef is beautifully cooked. Crème Brûlée and Profiteroles were delicious. Price is reasonable, staff are superb. You can tell that the landlord here is on another level, he is a huge part of why this pub is so successful. The pub is dog-friendly and always has a nice atmosphere. Definitely pop in, you won’t regret it 😉 Thank you Team. - Sunday, 03 November 2024 -

Great pub with excellent food. 4 different meals ordered and no waste. Had the steak and kidney pie which had proper chunks of kidney in.... So rare nowadays. Found out the pies are made onsite. Definitely recommend this pub. Very friendly staff and great service

Literally had to eat my dinner at arms length. Party of 8 and not one of us could fit our legs under the table it was so low and the seats so high. Quite an uncomfortable experience. Putting that aside, I had Roast lamb which was okay but nothing special. Others had scampi which they said was nice. The cheesecake was probably the best of the lot. Staff looked sad the entire time and we had to ask a few times for drinks. Personally I wouldn’t bother visiting again.

The food was very nice and the people who I was with strongly agreed, the service was very friendly and helpful and it created a very nice cosy atmosphere to eat and socialise in, the venue was very well kept and the interior design was very wooden, stylish and interesting, with antlers, paintings and even a fire to sit next to that was surprisingly warm at the end. Strongly recommend :)

Nice find after a short walk around Rutland water. Opted for homemade Chicken ham and leek pies one with triple cooked chips and peas the other with new potatoes and veg. Absolutely delicious! Left room for a dessert. Waffle with maple syrup and vanilla ice cream plus Raspberry and vanilla crème brûlée. Bit overpriced for the puddings but thought why not. Service was good with the girls being pleasant and efficient. I’d go back.
