We went to NYC from central PA for Shabbos. My friend stayed with Shul friends and I stayed at Eshel. It was $165 for the one night which was more than we wanted to spend. The room, however, was large, had two beds and a couch, a desk, small table for eating, the cleanest bathroom I've ever seen in a hotel (I belong to several hotel clubs) and it even had a balcony to walk out over the street. For Shabbos, they set out two large trays of candles and served excellent chicken and baked salmon. At lunch the next day, they provided fresh gefilte fish and there was always coffee and cookies. A policeman was stationed about twenty feet from the door. The receptionist was friendly and aware of candle lighting times. Excellent buy.

It's a very bare bones hotel. No t v's in the room, no frills of any sort. However for the location we were in it seemed reasonable. The bedrooms were clean in the beds were comfortable.

Rooms very clean and spacious. Beds very comfortable. Very welcome small balcony facing Kingston. Very good value for money right near to Lubavitch headquarters, 770 Eastern Parkway.

I love the eshkell best place in Brooklyn. Was their for 4 nights a random rabbi fell asleep in my room and was blacked out drunk it was hilarious. It rained and our rooms flooded so we moved to another room which had also flooded. Overall the eshkell is the most fun place in Brooklyn

Great location. But very expensive for the bare room and no amenities other than wifi. Room was otherwise modern furnishing but there was water damage to the shelving around the mini fridge and sink. Toilet was leaking. No hand soap in the bathroom. It is more like a hostel with private bathrooms really. I think if the prices were lower it would be more fair, but I guess you pay for the location, which is great, close to the train and restaurants.

Spacious room is about the only positive mention. There is also a mini-fridge and a convenient kitchen sink. (More) Front desk personnel not service oriented so guests have to fend for themselves. There is no security safe for valuables. The lobby area is dirty with trash everywhere. The lobby coffee service (hot water urn and a jar of instant coffee) was removed during my stay, so no coffee. Broken towel rack in bathroom. No "Do Not Disturb" door hanger is provided, so housekeeping is liable to walk in while guest is showering. Housekeeping takes barely used towels but does not replace them. No phone in room.
