Candlewood Suites Secaucus

Right off the back. I do give credit hotel for notifying me when room was available. Outside of that during registration I felt I was being treated like a criminal. I registered online through iHG both my wife and I are members. I used my name and her credit to hold room. Once room was ready, when checking, we presented both our Drivers License and my wife's credit card. The hotel clerk refused her credit card because reservation didn't say my name. We were staying for nights so used the IHG credit card because it was convenient, however, it was refused. I asked if I didn't another credit with 900 credit available she said it would be a problem. I told her we just drove 500 miles and she was not sympathetic. I insisted on us presenting a credit card that the name on the reservation which was mine. Reluctantly, I gave her a different card so now we don't benefit from IHG credit card points. Also, upon check i asked for extra towels. I was advised towels are only provided on one to one basis. Dirty.for a clean. Our stay was 4 days we had return to front desk often to swap out towels every day. The bedsheets were not smooth there were little knotty like balls on sheets that you could feel. I wanted to take bath after long drive. There were no tub stoppers. It seems like the hotels doesn't have any when I inquired at the front desk. Also, the excessive 250 security deposit was ridiculous. While the staff always smiled and greeted you in and out I still felt like this was the tackiest hotel stay I've ever experienced except for the short stay quickies when I didn't matter. Also, when I put address in in buy gas it ended having to pay a toll. In my opinion this is not a good area to stay if you want to walk to places to eat.

This was one of the worst experiences i had in traveling. Hotel clerk refused wife credit because reservation was in husband's name. I had use a credit with my name. All same address. Both IHG members. I asked for extra towels upon arrival i was advised they only give towel for towels. I had to return to front desk multiple times over 4 night stay. There were no bath tub stoppers for tubs. I asked at front desk and was advised they don't have any. I had to buy my own. The bed sheets had little fabric balls like from a sweater or something - not smooth sheets. They ask every guest for a 250 deposit. So if you're staying in a room for one night they will hit with and additional 250 on top for security.

The staff is Extremely Friendly, accommodating and the rooms are extremely clean spacious. You can cook in your room you have a full size refrigerator (the best) and you have access to a Grills outside. It is a great location very close to NY City.

I had a very bad experience with my reservation. I made a reservation under my name and added my sister's name through online guest relations right after I made the reservation. The guest relation said she added my request to the reservation and informed the hotel Management to add my sister's name to the reservation. Everything seemed well until my sister checked in. The front desk said the registration doesn't have my sister's name and they won't let her check in. I talked with the manager multiple times through the phone and she is very rigid, rude and didn't want to work to find a solution. All she said was that this is the hotel policy and you have to show up to take your reservation. This is the worst experience I've ever had in all my hotel reservations. Never ever book anything in Candlewood Suites in this location.

I've been staying in this hotel for about 2 weeks, I starting to feel like home. The staff is super friendly and always greeting customers with a smile. They even did a cookout for the people staying. I've never seen that in a hotel. 100% recommend the place.

This place never disappoints. Victoria is a wonderful person who makes you feel right at home. Together with the help of Nicole and the entire staff, they make the stay very pleasant.

I would recommend this hotel. The room was clean the kitchen look new. Wish there were a little more outlets in the bathroom with my family. Really had a good time at the hotel. I like the little store and that you were able to borrow things like umbrellas, pants games for your family. The only thing I wish is that they would’ve cleaned the room in our two nights day other than that and I did not like that you were to bring towels down in order to get fresh new towels.

ALWAYS FIVE STARS !!! I have stayed at this place time and again and every single time my experience is always above and beyond my expectations. They are always so clean you can actually smell clean the minute you walk in the front desk The rooms are spotless clean and the customer service is guaranteed to impress even the most critical guests . They always make you feel so welcomed !! I have nothing but great things to say about every staff member specially the hotel Manager VICTORIA . If you need a convenient place near transportation to New York , you must stay at the Candlewood suites in Secaucus

The response from management is unacceptable. It does not follow IHG policy, nor is the policy that the management is referring to clearly posted. I can't suggest this hotel to spouses of IHG Rewards members traveling alone ! It doesn't matter if your name is on the reservation! $255.90 for the room that they wouldn't let me stay in! I have a room booked through IHG. My name is on the reservation and I have the credit card in my name that the room is booked under. Per IHG policy, i should be able to stay, but the front desk attendant says my husband must sign because it's reserved under his IHG #. Management has called the hotel 3 times and the guy will not let me stay. I can't suggest this hotel. I hope IHG drops this hotel. Platnium rewards members since 1985 should NOT be treated this way!

The hotel is clean and seems well maintained. Our double bed room was smaller than similar rooms at Marriott, etc., but not bad. We had 4 people staying and the room had 4 towels, but they did not dry during the day and I was a little irked when I was told they do not give out extra towels so I had to go back to my room and bring them the wet towels to exchange. Last issue for me was a big one. I work while I travel and need Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi does not work at all on the 3rd floor. I could barely connect to it and even when I did, the signal was so poor I could not display a simple web page in my browser so if you need to work while here, you will need to go somewhere else to do it.
