Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites New Orleans Metairie

Firstly, I want to state that this Fairfield is in a safe and convenient location for shopping, dining, etc. and is not particularly far from tourist areas in downtown New Orleans. Having stated that, my husband and I had an absolutely irritating experience at the hotel. The cable TV set-up at the hotel was out of commission. This really wasn't much of a show-stopper, but we were lied to and told that the problem should be fixed soon after we checked in. The hotel lied! We never observed any workers at the hotel, and when I asked if we could be moved to a room where the TV actually functioned, we were told very sarcastically by a smart-aleck and rude desk manager, "Don't even ask. It ain't goin' to happen." We were also billed for parking and we did not have our car on the premises. This was just assumed. Our car was parked in a parking garage at a family member's apartment across the street. I did not argue this because we were told nothing about it until I noticed the charge on my Marriott Visa bill. Finally, we were supposed to receive an evaluation questionnaire as well as a final invoice after we checked out. We received neither. I really wanted to submit this review on the Bonvoy web site, but I could not because we received no review link. My husband and I stay exclusively in Marriott properties whenever they are available, however we will never again stay at this hotel, and would recommend anyone to avoid people who are incompetent, lie, are evidently inefficient, and rude.

Arrived at 4pm in pouring rain to find a local SUV under the covered entry. We had to unload in the rain as did other guest. We came back at 9:30pm from dinner and the SUV was still there. I assume guest are not that important. Then try to watch TV before bed, but the TV didn't work. The night person said we could wait until tomorrow, did move us to a different room at 10:00pm. My wife is trying to work the next morning, but was told the free WiFi was not working. They did offer WiFi for $4.95 a day, but couldn't guarantee it would work. I don't plan to ever stay at a Fairfield again and not sure if even a Marriott property.

Our stay was plagued with issues. 1. Staff parked under awning during downpour and for 5 hours guests unloaded in the rain. 2. TV remote did not work. Night auditor did not know how to program it. Offered nothing until we asked what the options were. This led to a 9pm room change after unpacking. 3. Free Wi-Fi did not work. Weekend day staff said it should work but did not know how to reset router. Told us we could pay 4.95/day for paid wi-fi. No guarantee that worked either. My hotspot didn't work either ... Coincidence? It worked on the drive in ... 4. Pay to park in your own lot? Not a fan ... But the staff was friendly, though largely untrained in what seems like daily operational issues.

Normally a solid 4 star property, but they charge for extra to park in their own parking lot with no security. None of the other hotels in the area do this. There is also plenty of street parking available surrounding the hotel. I don’t recommend supporting businesses that take the Ticketmaster approach to pricing.

The Manager Katherine and reservation girl LaTrisha, help us with everything we needed. Took care of all our requests. They made our stay perfect for us. We had a party of 6.

This is not a family friendly hotel. These are not really suites. It’s just a small room with a sofa next to a king bed. There’s no separation. The sofa bed is awful, is just a thin foam on top of springs. I wouldn’t let my dog sleep in one of these, let alone my child . We checked out after the first night and headed to a true suite in another hotel. Staff was nice and locations is right next to Whole Foods so that was plus

I absolutely enjoyed my stay here. From walking in the door to check in, I was greeted with a smile and felt welcomed. I needed to make a room change and the ladies went above to make sure we had the right room to meet our needs. The breakfast had a variety to choose from and the staff did n excellent job with refilling the stations as needed. Will definitely stay here again next time I am in town.
