Radisson Hotel Ames Conference Center at ISU

Absolutely terrible. No indication that the hotel was going to be under construction. Banging from 8 am to 6pm. Notified that water was to be turned off one afternoon but it was rescheduled to the next day without any notification. Housekeeping only put towels in our room and emptied the garbage--nothing else cleaned or kept up. Worst breakfast I've ever had. No help from the desk staff.

Radisson hotels always were full service establishments. I had not stayed at one since Choice absorbed them, and glad I had not. What a terrible, low service facility. Avoid! Here are details of our terrible stay.||1. I had specifically booked this hotel noting past reviews that they had a hot tub. Well, someone, in their infinite wisdom, pulled out the hot tub! You can even see the spot where it used to be. Why in the heck would anyone pull a hot tub out of a supposed full service hotel located in a cold part of the country? That alone will keep me from every coming again.||2. I was expecting to be able to buy a full, hot breakfast in the mornings since this should be a full service hotel. When I checked in, I asked about this, and they said they serve a cold breakfast. Granted this is free, but no at all what I wanted and I was willing to pay. To make matters worse, it is actually a worse free breakfast than you would get at a 2-3 star hotel like a Country Inn and Suites. Who serves bagels without a toaster? Avoid!||3. Again, this is supposed to be a full service hotel, right? Well, don't tell the maid service that. They still have COVID era signs in the room saying they will not be serviced every day. Owners, COVID was 5 years ago, get over it. Again, I'm not coming back thanks to this cost cutting crap.||4. Finally, I drive an EV. Is it too much to ask to put in at least 2 EV level 2 charging spots? I expect that now at full service hotels.||Only nice thing I can say was the room was solid, not great, not bad. I was okay with that.

I would give them negative stars, but this site does not allow that.||I would not recommend this hotel to stay at if it were the last place to stay in Ames, IA, do yourself a favor and stay at the Country Inn Suite. We recently stayed there on Friday night, the TV was not working, the bathroom sink had no hot or warm running water (if it were 1925, that may be okay, but it is 2025). I thought because it was a Radisson Hotel we would be okay, boy, were we wrong. We did not stay the second night of our reservation and all they told us we would have to call Expedia (which is a nightmare as well). No adjustment to the bill or anything (except sorry). ||You have been informed, not a viable place to stay.

Positive: Staff was great, but too much for one person at front desk to deal with breakfast food, clean up, and deal with guests. Negative: Very poor breakfast, no hot food, minimal bagels & muffins, ran out of food until front desk person had time to replenish, trash can stuffed full until front desk was able to get away to empty it, and no coffee/hot water available throughout the day.

This clearly hasn't always been a Radisson. The quality was far inferior than other Radissons I've stayed at. It was really old, not updated, the halls feel like a prison. Nobody serviced our room. The front desk was often unmanned. No hot tub in the pool area. And everything was SO LOUD! The ice machine sounded like a jet engine. Wr were woken up at 4:30am to what sounded like an air raid horn, only to discover that it was our heater. And it continued to scream throughout the rest of our stay. So we had to shut off all the heat and were cold. The room is spacious but sparsely decorated with old furniture. We had a lovely view of the red dumpster. The shower has a weak flow, and the shampoo and conditioner they provided trashed our hair. There are so many hotels in Ames; find a different one than this one to rent.

There were children of all ages running through the hallway and jumping over things my entier stay. The front desk didn't bother to address it either. My hotel room smelled like piss. The bathroom floor was destroyed and dirty. There was a combinationof dead and live bugs everywhere in my room. Curtains were falling off the curtain rod. The keelx box was empty. All of the cardio machines in the gym were broken. I hated every minute of my stay. Oh, and there was construction occuring in the hotelthroughoutthe day, which we were not informed of before arriving. I hated my experience and will never go back

Not a bad hotel. The hotel gym had an out of service treadmill, 5lb dumbbells, one 20lb, three 25s.. not enough to get anything done really. Would love to have had some 10s and 15s, and a treadmill is usually the one thing I rely on these places having.

Positive: "" Negative: The room was missing a sofa and lampshades. The shower surround creaked loudly with every step. The shower/ toilet room ran stopped running after 5 minutes. The ?continental breakfast? included just a bagel and orange juice in a box.
