Southwood Park

Liked: Myself, a friend, our 16 year old daughters and 2 dogs loved the site. It felt safe. The bell tent was a good size and comfortable and and facilities were good. The onsite breakfast included and good on site is a great touch and the burgers were tasty! Disliked: Nothing to dislike. Just a suggestion of maybe have a couple of the tents with low fences around the front area with the bench for those with dogs

Beautiful location, super comfy tent, and everything was clean and well set up. Loved the cozy fire pit and peaceful surroundings. A perfect mix of nature and comfort. Breakfasts in the mornings included was a nice touch we enjoyed that. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again!

My sister and I visited Southwood Park with my granddaughter for a night of camping. We only choose to stay one night as she had never been camping before and we were not sure she would like it, also I hate camping with a passion! Well, what can I say this site is fantastic and we all loved every minute, even me! The tents are clean and have everything you need. The toilets and showers are clean, which I was especially happy about. The site has everything children need, a playground, a mini football pitch, table tennis, swing ball etc, as well as an indoor den with every game you can think of. We played pool and tin can alley, oh and mini bowling! The bar is open, they also have a restaurant and the breakfast (which is included) was delicious. In addition, the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. We will definitely be returning and I have been informed by my granddaughter that we need to go for more nights next time!

Liked: Great Breakfast, good location and comfortable accommodation. Nice and secure site especially great for families with kids. Disliked: Weeds in the car park could have been cleared. Needs more power packs for the tents. Ideally two for each tent, labelled so you had one in use and one on charge at all times.

Liked: The best bit about our stay was how helpful the staff were - especially the two lads that were managing the breakfast rush. The tent was well stocked with fuel for the outside burner. We appreciated the kettle and burner but would expect these at £100 a night. Disliked: I felt that the management of the site was poor- maybe down to too little staff or not enough family members! Bins were often over flowing- there was no toilet paper or paper towels for drying hands. The single futon provided had seen better days- my daughter complained of ‘sleeping on the ground’. Breakfast was included but I felt it was of poor quality and the staff were ill prepared for vegetarians. I felt too much was expected of one server - breakfast was a bit chaotic

We stayed with our 4 children aged 11, 9, 4 and 11 months and it had everything we could want. The beds were comfortable, the fire pit was perfect for s'mores, the play area was perfect for the children to run around and the breakfast was lovely! It was all enclosed so we never had to worry about safety which was fantastic. This is a very peaceful and chilled out campsite which we can't wait to come back to.

This was our second year at Southwood Park, but this time we returned with friends and their children (20 adults and 26 kids in total!).||Firstly, we were so impressed with the changes they’d made this year to the site, including Steers and the Den. It’s such a luxury having the restaurant onsite serving great food and beer on tap, especially when you can’t be bothered to cook for yourself, you are on holiday after all! ||The staff are so friendly and helpful. They couldn’t do enough for us and given the large group, they weren’t fazed by our requests or us all being onsite at the same time. They even remembered most of our names, and the kids, which is a massive achievement given there were so many of us!||We all had a great time and for some of the families being first time campers, this was definitely the experience they needed to get them onboard with future camping trips (although it will be difficult to match up to this at other sites). We’ve already spoken about returning next year and cannot wait to see what changes the team may make to the site.

Liked: Not much. The three person tent was only really a two person tent. One double bed and a thin foam mattress for the third person. It’s advertised as glamping which it’s certainly not. The location is near a noisy road. The recreational facilities and equipment were scruffy and broken. The staff were very nice though and the toilets and showers were clean.
